Membership Types

VOTING MEMBERSHIPS

Receive all ACCCN benefits and are eligible to: vote, hold elected office, serve on the Board of Directors, serve on committees ( national and state), attend ACCCN member and social functions.

Standard Full Membership (1 or 3 years)

A person registered as a Division 1 nurse with AHPRA who has an interest or currently works in a Critical Care area.

Fee: $210 (1 year)
Fee: $550 (3 years)

Member of ACCCN - MACCCN (1 or 3 years)

A person registered as a Division 1 nurse with AHPRA who holds current full membership of ACCCN for a minimum of 1 year. (Not available to non-voting members)
Application for MACCCN must be accompanied by evidence of a Postgraduate qualification in Critical Care.

Fee: $550 (3 years)

Postgraduate student

A person registered as a Division 1 nurse with AHPRA who is currently undertaking additional studies relevant to Critical Care nursing and leading to a postgraduate degree.
Application for membership to ACCCN must be accompanied by evidence of course enrolment in the current year of study.

Fee: $159

Fellow of ACCCN - FACCCN (1 or 3 years)

Criteria for MACCCN plus must also demonstrate the following:

  • ACCCN member for a continuous period of >8 years
  • Application to the National Board including evidence of significant and ongoing contributions to ACCCN as per application template
  • Supporting reference from 2 current MACCCN

FACCCN is included in Life Membership.

ACCCN Life Members

ACCCN Life members are automatically awarded the post nominal FACCCN.

Fee: No cost to the member

NON-VOTING MEMBERSHIPS

Receive all ACCCN benefits, eligible to attend ACCCN member and social functions, however cannot vote, hold elected office, serve on the Board of Directors, serve on committees ( national and state).

Under Graduate Student

A person enrolled in an Australian recognised undergraduate programme leading to registration with AHPRA as a Division 1 Nurse.
Application for membership to ACCCN must be accompanied by evidence of student enrolment in the current year of study.

First Year RN

A person registered as a Division 1 nurse with AHPRA who has completed the Bachelor level degree and is working in their first year as a Registered Nurse.

Fee: $106

Maternity/Parental Leave

A person who holds current ACCCN membership and is registered as a Division 1 Nurse with AHPRA, but has taken Maternity/Parental leave from their place of employment.

  • For these members, voting rights are suspended until full membership is resumed
  • Full access to the members section of the website is retained
  • Full electronic (only) access to Australian Critical Care journal is retained via members section of the website

For a change in membership to Maternity/Parental Leave, the new fee will apply to the next financial year after the start of leave until return to work.

Long Term Sick / Carers Leave
(greater than 3 months absence from place of employment)

A person who holds current ACCCN membership and is registered as a Division 1 Nurse with AHPRA, but has taken Long Term Sick/Carers Leave from their place of employment.

  • For these members, voting rights are suspended until full membership is resumed
  • Full access to the members section of the website is retained
  • Full electronic (only) access to Australian Critical Care journal is retained via members section of the website

For a change in membership to Long Term Sick/Carers Leave, the new fee will apply to the next financial year after the start of leave until return to work.

Retirement/ Disability Membership

A person who has held ACCCN membership but is now retired or no longer able to work as a result of permanent disability from the paid workforce.
Proof of retirement from the workforce should accompany an application in this category.
Full access to the members section of the website is retained.
Full electronic (only) access to Australian Critical Care journal is retained via members section of the website.

Associate and Affiliate Membership (Australia and International)

A person who:

  • is registered as a Division 1 Nurse with AHPRA
  • provides evidence of current financial full membership of a nursing organisation e.g. CENA, ACORN, ACN (the individual must remain fully paid up member of the original organisation)
  • is a member of the multidisciplinary health team
  • ACCCN welcomes associate membership from interested persons with non-nursing backgrounds on written application to the board. (Refer to section 11.2 ACCCN Constitution)

  • International colleagues must provide evidence of
    • Nursing registration equivalent to Australian Division 1 registered nurse
    • Current financial full membership of an ACCCN equivalent professional nursing body that is registered in accordance with the laws applicable to the country of their residence

Access to online website and full electronic (only) edition of Australian Critical Care journal is emailed quarterly

Fee: $106

Honorary Member

Any individual who has rendered distinguished or valuable service to critical care nursing, but who may not be eligible for active membership, shall be eligible for honorary membership of ACCCN.
Election is possible by a unanimous vote of the Board of Directors of ACCCN.
Access to online website and full electronic (only) edition of Australian Critical Care journal is emailed quarterly.

Please note:
No refund of membership fees will be made if a status change is made to a membership, the new fee will apply to the next financial year.
All fees are in Australian dollars.
ACCCN hold the right to request proof of qualifications (current Registration in accordance with the laws applicable to the country of residence / professional organisation other than ACCCN membership) and or evidence of maternity, carers or retirement status.
