Organ & Tissue Donation & Transplantation

Role of the Organ & Tissue Donation & Transplantation Advisory Panel:

• Provide nursing comment to Australians Donate on behalf of ACCCN via O&TD&TAP Chairperson
• Provide nursing comment to ADAPT on behalf of ACCCN via O&TD&TAP Chairperson
• Reviewing information received from Australians Donate and the NH&MRC in relation to organ donation and transplantation.
• Providing comment and information regarding issues relating to Donation and Transplantation to the ACCCN board of Directors.
• Propose strategies to increase awareness of organ and tissue donation and transplantation among critical care nurses
• Develop an ACCCN position statement on critical care nursing involvement with organ and tissue donation and transplantation
• Provide nursing comment to Australians Donate on behalf of ACCCN via O&TD&TAP Chairperson

New position statement:
The O&TD&T Advisory Panel have drafted a position statement titled The Role of the Critical Care Nurse in Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation.  The completed position statement will be released in January 2009.
